Ser-lute to the cocksters

today i read an article on the famous website, talking cock.com.. They talk about anything yet not get caught.. not like the 2 racist bloggers.. they are really the voice of the people who cannot speak up. hee... Gahmen must be boiling everytime they view the website..

Quote:

I pulled out father's election strategy paper written in 1976. Father indeed has foresight. What he wrote in 1976 is still applicable 30 years later. I opened to the first page: "Dish out goodies (and take them back after the elections.)"

The strategy consists of the same old tactics, and it’s starting to get boring:

- Launch a multi-million-dollar documentary on history of Peasantland. The highlight of the documentary will show father crying as he fights for the independence and survival of Peasantland (oldest tactic, used since 1965)

- Announce initiatives to help the minorities (equally old tactic, used since 1965)

- Start a spat with Melayu-land to stir up patriotic feelings (used since 1965)

- Give money to the forced-conscription soldiers (used since national service was introduced)

- Announce upgrading of peasants' housing estates (used since 1976)

- Announce strong economic performance and high growth prospects (used since after the first recession in 1985)

- Make cars cheaper by releasing extra certificates (used since certificates were introduced in 1992)

- Announce new train lines with stations near to hotbeds of election contests (since 1999)

- Announce opening of Bangcock train station (new tactic)

That should about just do it but I had one more idea. "Eh, Thar1 Man4,” I called my Education Mini-star by his pinyin name, “I think the top student in this year's Peasant Simple Low-life Education ("PSLE") should be from the minority."

That will really boost morale in that community. And our votes too.

The MIW went away excited. No matter how many times they have gone through it, election fever is in the air. It is not that my MIW look forward to the excitement of contesting an election; they were more excited by the thrill of peasants rooting for them, cheering for them, campaigning for them, garlanding them…in short, sucking up to them and making them feel like royalty.

I find it hard to get excited over a stupid election. It is a waste of time and should not even be held in the first place. Ruling Peasantland should be my birth-right, and it is beneath my dignity to run for an election and to pamper to winning the votes of the peasants.

I turned the papers of the State’s Times. The Crazy Horse topless cabaret show is in town. Now this is worth getting excited about. Erection fever is definitely in the air.

Question 2: The organisational culture of a firm is its key to high performance. Discuss.

No matter what size an organisation is, and no matter what business area it
operates in, one of the key challenges facing the business and its management is how
to access and engage the latent talent of the people in the organisation. Organisations will often develop a set of Values for their business on the basis that successful businesses appear to operate to some ethical values that sustain the business in the long run. This can be defined as a culture of a company.

Within an industry, however, there may be other practices which are not
uniformly demanded by the industry, yet may be instrumental to performance (Barney
1986). This point is illustrated by a study (Sapienza 1985) which traces the diametrically different practices initiated by two companies in the same industry in response to new government regulations. The practices are traced to differences in their value systems, and result in different performance outcomes. Kotter and Heskett (1992) reported that when compared to lesser performing firms, higher performing firms were characterized as placing a high value on customers, employees, and stockholders.

One of the key consequences of a strong corporate culture is that it increases behavioral consistency across individuals in a firm. Organizational culture defines a normative order that serves as a source of consistent behavior within the organization. At the same time, organizational cultures frame people's interpretations of organizational events and basic assumptions about organizational processes. Strong-culture firms may be better (or worse) at choosing appropriate strategies, theories of the culture effect focus on the positive impact a strong culture has on the execution of routines. Theorists have put forward three interrelated explanations for the performance benefits of strong cultures (Kotter and Heskett, 1992). First, widespread consensus and endorsement of organizational values and norms facilitates social control within the firm. When there is broad agreement that certain behaviors are more appropriate than others, violations of
behavioral norms may be detected and corrected faster. Corrective actions are more
likely to come from other employees, regardless of their place in the formal hierarchy. Informal social control is therefore likely to be more effective and cost less than formal control structures (O'Reilly and Chatman, 1996). Second, strong corporate cultures enhance goal alignment. With clarity about corporate goals and practices, employees face less uncerta inty about the proper course of action when faced with unexpected situations and can react appropriately. Goal alignment also facilitates coordination, as there is less room for debate between different parties about the firm's best interests (Kreps, 1990; Cremer, 1993; Hermalin, 2001). Finally, strong cultures can enhance employees' motivation and performance because they perceive that their actions are freely chosen (O'Reilly, 1989; O'Reilly and Chatman, 1996). In strong-culture firms, most members work from a shared knowledge base and common beliefs, which enhances organizational reliability. As March (1991: 83) argued, "Knowledge makes performance more reliable. As work is standardized, as techniques are learned, variability, both in the time required to accomplish tasks and in the quality of task performance, is reduced." Furthermore, strong culture organizations socialize new members faster, in part due to the explicit codification of beliefs and to greater normative pressures. This enhances reliability by limiting the length of time new members hold discrepant views and pose threats to the smooth execution of organizational routines. Strong-culture firms have a high level of commitment to an established way of understanding the world, while weak
culture firms exhibit heterogeneity in participants' beliefs about the relationship
between the organization and its environment. As long as the organization's perceptions of its environment are reasonably accurate, firms benefit from strong corporate cultures, both by achieving higher performance levels and by doing so more reliably. Strong -culture organizations do not bear the costs of disagreement surrounding organizational goals and the means to achieve them.

A number of authors suggested extensive and causal relationships between
corporate culture and performance However, the studies that gave rise to what
Denison (1984) characterizes as the 'strong culture hypothesis' have come under
criticism for their measurement, sample inadequacies and/or lack of comparison with
less successful companies. In volatile environments, the assumptions forming the basis of the corporate culture become inaccurate at a faster rate. When the environment shifts, strong-culture organizations have no fall-back position, and the lack of internal diversity in perspectives makes it more difficult for the firm to adapt.

There is no causation edvidence where strong culture equals high performance
but many studies have concluded that selection of suitable culture that fits the
requirements of its externalities will help companies sustain the business in the long run.

This is a true story which happened in the States.

A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck. The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands. When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, "Daddy, I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "But when are my fingers going to grow back?" The father went home & committed suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with someone u love. Trucks can be repaired... Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge.

People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

Dammmmn.

Sympathatic Singaporeans

Stupid singaporeans, idea was to look for a superstar, not to sympathize with the handicapped. i think this stupid show never met its purpose. Or did i get it all wrong. Wasnt this show supposed to create another Steph. Sun? or Lin Jun Jie? or is it just another entertainment show.

Voting system sucked. with blood sucking operators charging like 20 or 50 cents per sms. Young gals with little money cannot donate much so what can they do? They go there as live audience and shout their lungs out. Rich sympathatic mothers at home listening to them, forgetting the objective of the show (or at least it is the objective of the show for me), not considering the outlook the potential, the market for the winner, just vote vote vote. so what happens? the good ones get kicked out.

i guess humans are just biased, or at least they are proned towards certain people.
1. handicapped
2. to their own friends or friends of friends (thats how some students survive so long in the contests, because they are from the same school, faculty, church, association etc.)
3. looks, charm ( where the little gals goes GAGA)
4. finally talent.

look at singapore idol finals, Taufik's camp mostly malay, Sylvester, mostly chinese... Who gains the most ? the producer, the telephone operating company blah blah blah..

ok ok back to superstar.

lets say the handicapped wins (incase i am labelled a crute person for saying blind) i am sure the producers will be highly reluctant to promote him or to cut a contract for him. lets be realistic, the majority ppl go for looks or talent. lets not talk about his looks, and unless he has got some talent in writing songs, and really good ones, perhaps he can be those stars like zhang yu.

Or maybe i may be wrong? we'll see

Results are coming out.
Damm low morale.
Bad Feeling.
Singapore is damm competitive. erm perhaps i am the uncompetitive ones around.
Everyone doing the paper chase, paying schools to earn more later on in life.
Cannot even forsee how long later will i then be able to see my self going home everyday after work. Study Study Study. So many things to learn. Cannot seem to remember them. Everyday i read a word from the "condensed" chemical dictionary but then a few days later its gone.. and all over again.. perhaps writing it here might help.

Today:
"hygroscopic"- compound which adsorbs water from the atmosphere. e.g. silica gel
"anhydrous"- inorganic compound that does not contain water in short
"anhydride"- a chemical derivative that has a molecule of water being taken out. e.g. sulphur trioxide is an anhydride of sulphuric acid.

what the hell..
why did i go study in SIM anyway.
Didnt i pay for the degree.
I didnt pay to struggle.
I think i would have done better in NUS.

humm i think i would have been a better diving instructor or skydiving instructor. But i think it wouldnt give you a good monetary life i guess..

Money

One thing good about being with ppl of different religion and culture and beliefs.

you just dont have to pay more.

E.g. Christians pay lesser when they have weddings during 7th lunar month. Not everyone eats beef, therefore prices aint that high, oh so does pork.. hee hee my favourite. I like to go swimming during 7th lunar month cos there no body!!

Ha. Here's a photo of Grace, a first in our "Generation" who had her wedding on national day and of course i bet she paid lesser then others who held out of the 7th month.

Aint a good shot but then can see la.. She still looks like the SPCA-donate-some-money statue you see when you were young at NTUCs with a dog, yeah? hee hee

Life.

Hurt is those who holds on to the past.

Life is just Contradicting.

People move on. Yet they hold on to the past.

A promise never made. A lie was said.

Language as a form of communication, but to some, a limitation.

humm thats life i guess . . .

A toast

This entry is dedicated to Thank God.

I got this good job with quite good prospect,
thought to be boring but turned out interesting.
Learning lots, Got in here at the right time,
just nice for the increment and bonus,

Thank God for a good Boss, G, who taught me alot of things
she fought a good increment and my bond reduced by one year
although she wants to keep me longer but felt that its unfair
for me.

Life's not all smooth sailing but look at it on the big picture,
its well done.

Cheers.
